Day 1

Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater – Zanzibar

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It takes 3 hours (172 km) to drive to the Ngorongoro entrance.

While your guide completes the registration at the authority offices, you will have about 10 minutes to look around the area or use the washroom. After registration, your adventure to the Ngorongoro Crater begins. The crater has a unique ecosystem that is inhabited by more than 25,000 resident animals. In grass steppes and acacia forests, you can encounter almost every animal species of the East African savanna, including the Big Five (rhino, elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard).

The crater is also home to big herds of wildebeest and zebra, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, hippo, Cape buffalo, lion, hyena, serval cat, and close to 400 species of birds.

After a great game drive in the crater including lunch at the picnic site, you will exit the park and head back to the airport in Arusha from where you’ll be taken to Zanzibar.

You’ll also visit the Old Slave Market and learn about its full history, Old Fort, Fred Mercury House, and the first East African building to have an elevator. Experience the different houses built in various styles in Stone Town such as the house of slave master Tip Tip and Princess Salme’s house.

You will also see the doorway styles of Zanzibar (Indian and Arab styles) which were built in early times but are now still available.

At 1:00 pm, we have lunch at the picnic site or at any good restaurant in the city. After lunch, we continue to the breathtaking Prison Island. It’s a very quiet place to visit and is filled with giant tortoises believed to be more than 100 years old. You’ll get a full colonial history of how prisons were run. Day 3

Safari Blue

At 7:00 am, we have breakfast at the lodge, and at 8:00 am, you’ll be picked up by our guide and briefed about the tour. Safari Blue is among the classic watersport adventures in Zanzibar. This trip involves sailing with a boat to different islands like Fumba, Menai, etc. During the tour, you’ll be offered bites and soft drinks. The tour highly depends on sea weather so it may start even earlier.

It’s a 6-hour excursion where our guide will take you to a nice beach (Nungwi or Kendwa) for sailing. Upon arrival, you’ll be offered all safety and snorkeling gear before boarding a boat. Your captain will stop at 2 potential points where you can snorkel and spot a beautiful coral reef with a lot of fish species and wonderful mangroves.

We have lunch at the picnic site between 1 and 2 pm. After lunch, and if you’re not too tired, our guide may offer you another trip where you can sunbathe and swim until late evening. Later, you will be taken back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Zanzibar is a small island but one of the best spice producers. Spices and herbs such as clove, lemongrass, turmeric, vanilla, black pepper, jack fruit, chilly, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, and many others are all found in Zanzibar.

After lunch, you’ll have a market trip and a short window shop to see how these fresh spices from the farm after been packed and placed where people from different parts, either within or outside the island, buy spices and herbs (cash only). We do hope that you’ll take some back to your home country.

After the spice tour, you’ll be taken to Kendwa Beach for swimming and sunbathing. Later in the evening, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
